In 'The Wolf Leader,' Dumas deftly weaves the Faust story with the werewolves of folklore. While it is not the typical swashbuckling fare you would expect from the author of 'The Three Musketeers,' 'The Wolf Leader' is a wonderfully atmospheric tale, detailing a deal between Thibault, a shoemaker, and a half-man-half-wolf creature he meets in the forest. While revenge might be sweet, for every deal, there is a price to pay. A superb and intriguing read for those who want to read something out of the ordinary.
